St Josemaria on Twitter and Facebook
March 16, 2012
The official St Josemaria website now has a Facebook page: StJosemariaEscriva and a Twitter account: @St_Josemaria.
The aim: spreading to more people the message that ordinary life is a path to holiness. Through videos, audios and texts, the life and teachings of the founder of Opus Dei are discussed by users in real time.

The new Facebook page and the Twitter account pass on the contents of the official St Josemaria website: ideas for meditation, testimonies, favors received, social projects inspired by St Josemaria’s teachings, and more. They also pass on the Pope’s intentions and news about him, following St Josemaria’s recommendation: “all with Peter to Jesus through Mary.”
Users have a new forum to discover and share topics and sources, and can connect to others with shared interests.
More than just an exchange of data
Pope Benedict XVI has explained: “In the digital world, transmitting information (…) means making it known within a social network where knowledge is shared in the context of personal exchanges. (…) Communication appears not only as an exchange of data, but also as a form of sharing. This dynamic has contributed to a new appreciation of communication itself, which is seen first of all as dialogue, exchange, solidarity and the creation of positive relations.” (Benedict XVI, Message for the 45th World Day of Social Communication).
