Pilgrimage to Sonsoles

On May 2, 1935, St Josemaria, founder of Opus Dei, went on a pilgrimage to the shrine of Sonsoles, Spain. When he got home again he decided to honour our Lady in that way every May, with a simple, penitential pilgrimage.

The Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Torreciudad in Spain

Torreciudad is a shrine dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, in Aragon in the north of Spain. Devotion to Our Lady of Torreciudad dates back to the eleventh century. The new Shrine, built under the guidance of the founder of Opus Dei, Saint Josemaría Escriva, was inaugurated on 7 July 1975.
