I carry with me every day in my heart an aspiration: "Rome!"
Pope Benedict XVI announces his resignation at end of month: "After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry." Saint Josemaria wrote in Furrow: "I thought the comment on loyalty you had written to me was very appropriate to all those moments in history: I carry with me every day in my heart, in my mind and on my lips, an aspiration: 'Rome!'" Some words from the Prelate of Opus Dei
Today the Church feels a special need to thank Benedict XVI for his rich and fruitful teaching, and for his humble and generous example of service to the Church and the world. In this unique moment of Church history, the faithful of the Prelature, both priests and laity, pray for Benedict XVI and his intentions. United to the Pope and to the whole Church, we ask the Holy Spirit to pour out his grace abundantly on the people of God and the Pastors of the Church. Together with Benedict XVI we invoke the aid of the Paraclete for the future Roman Pontiff. Tags: Pope, Pope Benedict XVI

Ordinary people
To borrow from Scott Hahn, it was the moment I "got" Opus Dei: it was while watching a video of its founder St. Josemaria Escriva in the middle of a question-and-answer session before a large audience. A professional-looking man got up and asked St. Escriva, "can you tell me if there is any sign that would show me I am living the teachings of Opus Dei faithfully and well?" Anybody who saw that video or was actually there would never forget how St. Escriva, without missing a beat, without a second’s pause, give this answer: "if your wife is happy."
