A difficult exam

I am very grateful to God and the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Josemaria who helped me in a qualifying oral exam for my doctorate, which is notoriously difficult. Expressing oneself in a foreign language and studying a large amount of material is always a challenge. I began to pray the prayer-card of St Josemaria every day and I also bought the book The Way and used it while I was studying. The days leading up to the exam were terrible, and I kept thinking I was not going to pass. I asked St Josemaria to give me a “clue”, and I opened the book at random and found it was the chapter called “Perseverance”. Then I thought, I have to keep going to the end, and not fall into the temptation of giving in. Also, a good friend of mine who introduced me to Opus Dei prayed for me and asked St Josemaria to “win over” the panel, and that is what happened. The panel was satisfied with my exam and I passed. Thank you very much, St Josemaria!

In November my son Sebastian Ignacio began to have severe abdominal pains. We went to the hospital three times in five days, but the treatment had no effect. After the seventh day we went back to the hospital and, thank God, met someone we knew who made sure we were properly attended to. My son’s temperature was nearly 40 degrees and the pains were so bad he couldn’t walk. He was seen by a really good pediatrician and surgeon, who diagnosed peritonitis. He was hospitalized on November 5, 2011. I prayed to Saint Josemaria (my friend of always), and thanks to his intercession the operation was completely successful, though not without complications. His convalescence went perfectly and my son was discharged from hospital after a week. He completed his school year with no problems and is now a normal healthy boy. Thank you, Saint Josemaria, you have never let me down!

The doctors were baffled

Two years ago I suddenly became very ill. I went to the hospital and the doctors were baffled because my hemoglobin counts were dropping very rapidly. I was anemic and had severe vitamin deficiencies and even simple activities were very exhausting for me. During that summer I underwent many painful medical tests but no answer for my illness could be found. I decided to pray to St. Josemaria because a friend had given me his prayer card. A few months later the doctors found out the problem: I had celiac disease. Today my hemoglobin levels are back to normal and my overall health is improving. Thank you St. Josemaria!

When I had my first baby I had a heart infarction, I was 26. The doctors told me I should not have any more children. (…) After 5 years I was pregnant again and someone gave me a prayer-card of Saint Josemaria. My daughter was born without any problem on June 26. Soon after that I became pregnant again, and it was another little girl. Both of them are now Numeraries in Opus Dei.

She couldn’t answer a single question

My daughter is in her last year at university. This month on the day of an exam she telephoned me shortly after the time it started. I was worried to get a call from her at that time, and still more when I heard that she was crying hard. She told me she had read the exam paper and couldn’t answer a single question. I told her to stop crying, go back into the exam room, and try to do the best she could. Meanwhile I prayed to St. Josemaria to interced for her before the Holy Spirit. When she got home she told me that she had done the exam, that she didn’t even know what she had written, and that it had gone badly. Through St. Josemaria and the Holy Spirit, somehow she got a good mark. I told her, “See? God can do everything…!”

After an accident

I am writing to thank our Lord for a favor granted to my brother through the intercession of St Josemaria.
He had an accident at work that nearly killed him. He broke both bones in his left forearm. He had a very complex, painful operation. After being off work for a long time the bone still hadn’t mended.

I stopped drinking

In 1990 I was doing very badly all round. I was drinking too much and gambling away all the money I earned. I told a friend of mine who is in Opus Dei about this to see if he could help. He advised me to try to stop drinking and gave me a Saint Josemaria prayer-card telling me to say the prayer every day, looking at the prayer-card. Now I face life quite differently

A year and a half ago I discovered that I had a carcinoma in the kidney. I put my life and soul in the hands and prayers of St Josemaria, praying and asking for help to be given the strength to face up to this disease. After the operation I was afraid that there would be metastasis, but nothing of the kind happened. Thank you, St Josemaria! Now I face life quite differently!

An urgent operation

On my way home from a doctor’s appointment I decided to go into the chapel of the Holy Child of Atocha. I was miserable because I had just learned that I needed an urgent operation. When I went into the church my eye was caught by some prayer-cards. I went over to look at them: it was a prayer to St. Josemaria Escriva. I didn’t know this priest, but I started reading the prayer-card and realized that it was God who had placed them in front of me. I prayed with great fervor. (…) Little by little I have got better and I no longer need any operation. Not a day passes without my bearing witness to St. Josemaria and spreading devotion to him among others.

After 3 months with no sales

I give thanks to Saint Josemaria, who, ever since at the age of 18 I saw him in the Colegio Mayor Monterols in Barcelona, has never abandoned me in my prayers.

It seemed impossible

My parents were separated and this made me become depressed, as I saw my mother crying. Dad left without paying the electricity and water bills. I thought we were finished, but I prayed to St Josemaria. That same week, my brother got a call from a laboratory, offering him a job. He started the next day, but he had to have white shoes, and we had nothing to pay for them with. So I carried right on praying, this time to find the money for his shoes. He found a pair being auctioned, and got them very cheap.

My business started thriving again

I am normally a reserved person who doesn’t like to talk about such things, but I feel obliged to let everyone know of my experience. Her life turned right round

I have been reading the testimonies written by many people who have obtained favors through St Josemaria's intercession. I would like to add my own experience. I heard about St Josemaria through a prayer-card that a friend gave me. I have to say that at first I didn't really believe in it, but lately, with the credit crunch, things started going very badly for us and I began saying the prayer to him every day with great faith. And I can say it's helped me a lot. Thanks to his intercession I have found a job, and I also prayed for a friend who was in an even worse situation than me, and her life turned right round. I thank him every day for the help he gives me and keep asking to him to help me pray to God that we get out of the hole we're in.
