Benedicto XVI

Dear friends, you have come to Rome for Holy Week for an experience of faith, friendship and spiritual enrichment. I ask you to reflect on the importance of university studies in forming that "Catholic or universal mentality" that St Josémaria described as: "a breadth of vision and a vigorous endeavour to study more deeply the things that are permanently alive and unchanged in Catholic orthodoxy". Address of Benedict XVI to the directors and members of "Confartigianato" an association of italian artisans

Benedicto XVI

Furthermore, may you as Christians be committed to living and testifying to the "Gospel of work", in the awareness that the Lord calls all the baptized to holiness through their daily occupations. Josemaría Escrivá, a Saint of our times, notes in this regard that since Christ who worked as a craftsman took it into his hands, "work has become for us a redeemed and redemptive reality. Not only is it the background of man's life, it is a means and path of holiness. It is something to be sanctified and something which sanctifies" (Christ Is Passing By, Homily, n. 47). Benedicto XVI

I offer a cordial welcome to all of you who, continuing a tradition that has now existed for several years, have come to Rome to live Holy Week and take part in the international UNIV meeting. You belong, as one can see, to numerous countries and are diligently devoted to the activities of Christian formation that the Prelature of Opus Dei promotes in your city. Welcome to this meeting and thank you for coming. Tags: Friendship, Apostolate, Interior life, Pope Benedict XVI

Homily of John Paul II in the Canonization of the founder of Opus Dei

Juan Pablo II

"All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God" (Rom 8,14). These words of the Apostle Paul, which we have just heard, help us understand better the significant message of today's canonization of Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer. With docility he allowed himself to be led by the Spirit, convinced that only in this way can one fully accomplish God's will. Audience of Pope John XXIII with St Josemaria Escrivá

Pilar Urbano

On March 5, 1960 Monsignor Escrivá went to the Vatican for an audience with Pope John XXIII. In a second audience, on June 27, 1962, Pope John said, “Monsignor, the Work opens up before my eyes infinite horizons which I had not discovered before.” Tags: Pope, Pope John XXIII
